Walter Ericson Mease was born April 15, 1953 in Burkes Falls,, Ontario, Canada and passed away after a long illness on December 7, 2021in Chattanooga, TN.
He became a citizen at the age of one when he entered the U. S. with his parents, Dorothy Walters Mease of Morristown, TN and Edward Calfee Mease, Jr. of Hayesville, N. C. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, Stella Durman Walters, Arlie George Walters, Jessie Passmore Mease and Edward Calfee Mease.
Eric was a skilled carpenter and roofer, generous to those in need of money, clothing or shelter. An avid fisherman, he loved the outdoors and feeding birds while listening to music. He enjoyed the arts, engaged in study of science and history but was well known for his sense of humor and distinctive laugh.
Eric is survived by his sister, Cheryl Mease Carico and brother Edward Calfee Mease, III along with three nephews Paul H. Carico, III, Nathan Ericson Carico, Seth Mease Carico, niece Althea Mease Iles, numerous cousins, great nieces and nephews. Eric was a former resident of Clay County and touched lives no matter where he found himself.
A memorial will be held at a later date on the shore of Lake Chatuge.
