Elf School was built in 1928 burned down in 1937 and then was rebuilt in 1941 and was a school until 1968. After serving as a school, it was a venue for various other businesses until Rachel Watson bought it in April of 2022. For two years Rachel has been updating and renovating the school so that she could open Elf School of the Arts. The school’s grand opening was last weekend, June 14-16.

The school will be a multipurpose campus. It will be an artist residency for six months out of the year and a concert venue and community space the other six months. It has an auditorium with a stage and will be available to rent for plays, recitals and other events as well such as weddings.

Artists will be able to come stay free of charge for twp weeks to three months at a time; four artists at a time. This is possible because it is a nonprofit.

While the artists are staying there, they will have private rooms, shared bathrooms, shared laundry room and

kitchen and dining area. The artists will have access to the many art studi os in the

school including print studio, jewelry studio, dark rooms, among others.
