The heat dome was in full effect on Tuesday as we intrepid golfers used portable fans, cool cloths and ice-cold water to cool off. We felt victorious just to finish the round.
The game of the week was “3’s and 5’s.” Our first flight winners were Janean Yankowskas in first place and Glenda Geddings took second place. Our second flight winners were Nancy Harvill, first, and Mary Mott, second. The third flight winners were Linda Miles, first and Debbie Estes, second. Janean Yankowskas and Vicky Donaldson split the putt pot with 30 and 32 putts. Donaldson won the chip-in pot with a birdie on hole No. 13. Yankowskas had two birdies on holes No. 4 and No. 5 and Claudia Rinaldo had a birdie on hole No. 7. These ladies’ games were as hot as the weather.
As the great Bobby Jones once said, “Golf is the closest game to the game we call life. You get bad breaks from good shots; you get good breaks from bad shots, but you have to play the ball where it lies.”
