Previously: The baby quieted as its PedOne chip was installed. The download was complete. Newly-minted RealParent™ Maxine sighed, patted ChipDonor™ Max’s arm pad, and switched to sleep mode. Not that she needed sleep, but sometimes you need some 'me' time.
Meanwhile: Back in the cave in the area to be known as Nebraska, Mongo has returned from time travel visiting his folks, ChipDonor™ Max.3 and Motherboard Maxine in 2053, Left Coast, New Vegas. Bev is not happy.

I, Cro-Borg
My people come from Nebraska,  800,000 or so years ago. They were hunter/gatherers and were mainly nomadic. Early to bed and early to rise, questing for fire and the move from bone tools and weapons to sharpened stones and the wheel.

Immortality has granted me freedom to roam through time: Since my DNA has been cloned and is infinitely replaceable with exact copies. Coupled with the progress technology continues to make with chip implants and finally with the inception of neural networking, I need only think a time and place to be there. The Null Gates, once the pinnacle of robot/hominid achievement, stand empty now where once a constant queue of borgs and bots waited patiently to time travel.
Mongo blinked twice and switched back to Cro-Magnon brain from enhanced chip mode. Bev blinked twice in response and the post-quarrel mating was completed. The Cro-Borg smiled, In Ancients' time, a version of this for mortals was referred to as makeup sex. When in Rome... to be continued

We used to teleport: Mongo's lament

You saved me from pushing on a Pull door
I couldn't do it anymore, this living on the floor
You came along  I'm still writing you songs
For our out-of-this world love affair

We used to teleport when we were young
Before the Big Melt, hey, wasn't that fun?
Now we stay home with our Robotot son
We used to teleport, when we were young
We used to teleport, when we were young

We used to do comedy and travel through time
You were the straight man I was the mime
Vaudeville died in the outer worlds
But honey, you're still my girl
