The 12th annual event will be held from 4-7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20 on the Historic Courthouse Beal Center grounds inside the downtown Hayesville square.
The first area event in Oct. 2013 was limited but successful with the earlier passage of alcohol ordinances in Clay County and surrounding areas, including north Georgia.
Several vineyards had been established years earlier so the first vendors were only those producing wine.
The former committee Friends of Historic Courthouse and Clay County Communities Revitalization Association partnered to produce Wine Around the Square the following year.
Proceeds from the second event helped to increase more funding to reach a level for CCCRA to apply
for grants to restore the historic Clay County Courthouse.,
Area breweries soon followed and the event name was changed to Steins & Wine Around the Square.
Local and regional vendors have been faithful participants featuring their wine processed from the vine and beer soon became available from experienced brewmasters.
Businesses, individuals and Historic Hayesville Inc. partner organizations continue to support the annual landmark gathering with additional sponsorships or various contributions to keep it successful to benefit local projects.
HHI is in complete compliance with the N.C. ABC Commission with promotion materials advising that attendees must be 21 and show valid identification to enter the event gate connecting to the enclosed area of the downtown square.
Tickets are $10 each in advance or $15 at event entry. Tiger's Store on Herbert Street and HHI Centennial Exhibit at 116 Sanderson Street next to Hayesville Post Office now have tickets available for purchase.
