Kolbe Ashe continues to deliver for Young Harris College.

Ashe canned a corner three-pointer to clinch a 78-74 victory over visiting King University on Saturday.

Young Harris Coach Jeremy Currier wasn’t surprised Ashe came through in the clutch.

"I am so thankful to have Kolbe at Young Harris College, he has been a tremendous addition to our program. His work ethic, leadership and intelligence on the basketball court has made a significant impact on our team,” Currier said.

Ashe’s decisive long ball was his second three-pointer in five tries. He also nailed 5-of-9 from the field, scored 12 points, had three assists and made just one turnover in 36 minutes.

As a starting guard, Ashe is earning a reputation as a hot-handed shooter. He’s made 7-of-13 field goals and 3-of-8 three-pointers in the last two games. His field goal percentage over the last four games is a sizzling 47 percent from the field.

Ashe, who has scored in double digits six times, is averaging 8.1 points, 2.4 assists, 1.9 rebounds and .9 steals. He’s also shooting .875 from the field goal line.

His season high is 18 points, Nov. 11 vs. Georgia Southwestern.

Currier has shown faith in his reliable 5’ 11” sophomore the entire season. Ashe has played at least 28 minutes per game.

“In my time on the sidelines, my best teams have had a player at the point guard position that is an extension of the coaching staff — and that is exactly what Kolbe is,” Currier said. “He is a student of the game and understands how to get our team functioning at the highest level possible."

Young Harris is 9-7 overall. The Mountain Lions returned to action Saturday at Chowan University in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
