Candidate registration for the 2024 election winds down at 12 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15 at the Clay County Elections Board. On the local level, all incumbents have filed to seek another term along with one new candidate.
In the county commission race, three seats are open for election on the board. Republican incumbents Rob Peck, Randy Nichols and Dwight Penland have filed for re-election, according to the Elections Board office.
Two seats are open on the Clay County Board of Eduction currently held by Republicans Danny Jones and Reba Beck, both of whom have filed for re-election. Josh Ashe has also entered the school board race.
Voters will need an ID to vote in all upcoming including the March 5 primary. The general election will be held Tuesday, Nov. 5.
