The mission of Clay County Communities Revitalization Association is to stimulate economic growth, promote the assets and preserve the heritage of Clay County. CCCRA had that mission in mind when it recently made a $10,000 donation to the Peacock Performing Arts Center for building and infrastructure improvements. CCCRA was able to do this because of the generosity of those who support its fundraising efforts in the community.
Like CCCRA, the Peacock Performing Arts Center is a local non-profit organization which relies on volunteers and financial support from the community to achieve its own mission: engage, inspire and entertain. In addition to a year-round line-up of plays and musical performances the center also offers ballroom dance lessons and children’s drama camps. Completed in 1986, the center’s home on Church Street brings “big city entertainment” to a “quiet mountain town” in its 250-seat theater. As it nears its 40th anniversary there is an extensive list of building and infrastructure improvement needs.
Diversity of arts and music is crucial to a thriving community. CCCRA recognizes the Peacock’s role in bringing that to Clay County. Further, those audiences who enjoy the plays, musicals, concerts or Rob Tiger’s Songwriter’s Showcases not only fund those shows but also drive revenue for our local restaurants and shops. CCCRA encourages everyone to follow its lead and donate to the cause, ensuring our hometown theater is one of those reasons we are proud to call Clay County home.
