The Scribes on Stage series returns to the Peacock Performing Arts Center in Hayesville, with an “Evening of Appalachian Tales” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24.
This event will feature 11 storytellers and performers including knee-slapping, toe-tapping music by local musicians Hannah Sage, Pat List, Tom Edwards, Dan Hollifield, Jonathan Hensley and Owen Gibson.
Hannah Sage’s musical beginnings go back to her elementary school days when she participated in the Georgia Pick and Bow Traditional Music School.
At 10 years old she picked up a banjo and fell in love. Sage’s talents have brought her to many stages including Nashville’s famous Ryman Auditorium.
Pat List and Tom Edwards are well-known local singer-songwriters and co-founders, along with Keith Layton, of the Gnarly Fingers band.
They have been entertaining north Georgia and western North Carolina audiences for the last 19 years with music from some of the greatest singer-songwriters.
Dan Hollifield is a flutist and flute maker. Hollifield belongs to the Georgia Tribe of Eastern Cherokee and lives in Hayesville, N.C. He is a staple of the Cherokee Heritage Festival, performing each year with flutes that he makes himself.
Jonathan Hensley and Owen Gibson are talented home-grown performers. When they aren’t spreading joy to family and friends with their music they contribute to the Clay County community through their school, work and personal interest in helping others.
