Western North Carolina Operation Christmas Child is excited to host inspiring speakers Pastor Mark and his wife Cherry from Wild Peach, Texas.

Come be inspired by Pastor Mark and Cherry's story of a faithful and obedient small rural church in Texas, which has now packed more than 100,000 shoebox gifts over the years with Operation Christmas Child. There will also be an opportunity to learn more about how you, your church or organization can become more involved with Operation Christmas Child.

Below are some of the opportunities that are free and open to everyone, to come hear their inspiring story:

• 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, Truett Baptist Association Meeting

• 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, Annual Project Leader Workshop, Holly Springs Baptist Church, 366 Holly Springs Church Road, Franklin, N.C. The workshop is to support and connect volunteers with those who are leading their families, community groups and churches to pack gift-filled shoebox gifts. Open to anyone interested in becoming involved in Operation Christmas Child this year.

This year, western North Carolina volunteers hope to collect more than 25,000 shoeboxes packed with fun toys, school supplies and personal care items to contribute toward the global goal of reaching 12.4 million children. Each shoebox gift is an opportunity to share the Gospel and Pastor Mark and his wife Cherry is encouraging the community to continue giving generously.

Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan's Purse, seeks to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to children in need around the world and, together with the local church worldwide, to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. Since 1993, Operation Christmas Child has collected and delivered more than 232 million gift-filled shoeboxes to children in more than 170 countries and territories.
