Legendary trumpeter Chet Baker was known as the “Prince of Cool” a little bit James Dean, a little bit Frank Sinatra. This Saturday at the Peacock jazz trumpeter and vocalist Joe Gransden brings Baker’s music to life along with his quartet.
Gransden is renowned for the hard bop approach of his trumpet and his singing voice has been compared to that of Chet Baker and Frank Sinatra.
“Gransden is a young man with an old soul and a classic voice. He is a great new talent with a wonderful sense of humor to boot.”
– Clint Eastwood
At 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31 the Legacy of Jazz series returns to The Peacock. The previous two installments which focused on the music of Nat King Cole and three pioneering women in jazz, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday and Nina Simon had many audience members remarking that these were some of the best musicians they had ever seen live.
Next weekend at The Peacock four incredible Nashville-based musicians bring their prowess to the music of one of rock’s most iconic bands.
These versatile musicians have played with Heart, REO Speedwagon, Wilco, The Black Crowes, Richard Marx, Garth Brooks, Jewel, Kenny Chesney, Rascal Flats, Autograph and Quiet Riot, but they’ve come together to pay faithful tribute to Led Zeppelin and a time when rock ruled the world. Catch Stairway to Zeppelin at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7.
