Sheriff Bobby Deese accomplished numerous things during his term as Clay County’s top lawman, but one of his proudest achievements has nothing to do with serving and protecting.
“This year was the first time the Clay County Sheriff’s Office participated in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics,” Deese remarked. “Hopefully the next sheriff will carry that on.”
Deese not only made sure the Law Enforcement Torch Run came through Hayesville in early May, the sheriff and members of his staff supported Special Olympics North Carolina by participating in the Law Enforcement Torch Run in two cities. Deese and Patrol Sergeant Brian Forsyth recently took part in the Charlotte event and Deese and Junior Captain Cameron Adams ran in Raleigh.
According to Deese, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office has raised, “more than $2,000” for Special Olympics North Carolina.
