Members of the Mountain Lakes Pickleball group will be providing free lessons on Saturday, May 10 for anyone in the area who is interested in learning to play pickleball.
Interested individuals should arrive at the courts with comfortable court shoes. Loaner paddles will be available. The clinic will begin at 9 a.m. and will last an hour or more. Registration is not required. The lessons will include game rules and an introduction to each of the basic skills of pickleball.
The clinic will be led by USAPA local ambassadors Mike Gonzalez and Lucy Jordan. These individuals represent the Clay County group in the national pickleball organization.
Pickleball is often described as a combination of tennis and ping pong. It is played on a court smaller than a tennis court and players use paddles similar to ping pong but larger. The game is quick to learn and provides a good physical workout for players of all ages. The sport is known for to be a very social game and is currently the fastest growing sport in the United States.
The clinic will be held on the eight outdoor courts at the Clay County Sports Complex. The courts are adjacent to the recreation building at 333 Ball Park Drive.
