Local wins big in volleyball fundraiser

    Hayesville High School volleyball program held their annual calendar raffle on Friday, July 14  to win $500. The money raised helps their program to attend a  two night-three day volleyball team camp this year at UT-Chattanooga, purchase volleyball shoes, team bags, team spirit wear and any team needs.

    The way this works is people purchase dates on a 1-31 day calendar. Each date picked you pay that date’s amount.

    Then during the drawing those dates are put in a huge container. For example, if you purchased day No. 31 there will be No. 31 in the container 31 times.

    Coach Dills first will draw the number. This year she drew No. 24, then Coach Dills moves over to another container where all her players’ names are in.

    This year I pulled one of my upcoming freshman's name,  Kaydence Morrow. Her No. 24 square was sold to Rick Jackson.

    He was the lucky winner of the $500 this year.

    I would like to thank everyone who purchased and continues to support our Lady Jacket Volleyball Program. Our community is so giving and loving.

    Everyone is invited to come watch our programs open up on Aug. 15 at home vs. Smoky Mountain. The JV team plays  at 5 p.m. and varsity at 6 p.m.
