Bobcats pick up 82-73 road win over Mountain Lions

Georgia College picked up an 82-73 Peach Belt Conference victory over the Young Harris College men's basketball team Wednesday (Jan. 19) evening at the YHC Recreation and Fitness Center. 
 
The Bobcats improved to 13-3 overall and 5-2 in the Peach Belt, while the Mountain Lions fell to 3-13 and 0-7. Young Harris returns to action Saturday (Jan. 22) in Aiken, South Carolina with a 3:30 p.m. Peach Belt tip off against the University of South Carolina-Aiken. 
 
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE: 

  • Lenny Pradia and Karl Chavis led the Mountain Lions with 18 points each. Chavis grabbed seven rebounds, dished out six assists, and was 8-of-8 at the free throw line. 
  • Carl Cleveland scored 16 points and tied his career record of 13 rebounds.
  • Jordan Thomas and Christian Koneman scored 17 points each for the Bobcats and grabbed a combined 11 rebounds.
  • Georgia College led by 13 points (60-47) after a Chris Parks layup with 9:46 left in the second half, before the Mountain Lions battled back to within two points (66-64) after Chavis sank two free throws with 3:28 remaining. Chavis' free throws culminated a 7-0 run by YHC.
  • The Bobcats ended the YHC comeback on an old-fashioned three-point play by Luke Chism less than a minute later.
  • The closest the Mountain Lions would get the rest of the way was three points (69-66) after a long two-pointer from Pradia with 2:21 left.
  • As a team Young Harris outrebounded Georgia College 33-32 and led 16-6 in fastbreak points.
