After a promising start to the season with a blowout win over Rosman, Hayesville’s JV football team has suffered through a losing streak. The Yellow Jackets made the journey to Cherokee Thursday, Oct. 10 to face the Braves in hopes of returning to the win column. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case as Cherokee defended their home field by the final score of 22-6.

Hayesville’s lone touchdown came when Taylor McClure busted through the defensive line for a two-yard score. Following the game, Jacket head coach Nic Rumfelt stayed optimistic, saying, “I think we’re still growing as a team and we’re playing harder each game. Now we just have to put four quarters together and execute on both sides of the ball.”

The Jackets will have a chance to bookend the season with wins if they can win their final game of the season Thursday, Oct. 17. It will be another road game for the team as they travel to Bryson City to face Swain County at 6 p.m.
