On Saturday, June 26 the American Legion Post 532 and Auxiliary sponsored Casey Davis Memorial Golf Tournament was held at Chatuge Shores Golf Course. Proceeds from the tournament benefit the Casey Davis Memorial Scholarship Fund which is administered by the American Legion Auxiliary Unit.
Patrick and Elizabeth Davis, members from the Casey Davis family, greeted players along with scholarship recipient Allison Thomas. The 2021 scholarship was awarded to Allison at the annual scholarship awards ceremony held in the Frank R. Long Memorial Stadium hosted by the Clay County Schools.
Allison will continue her education in secondary level mathematics through studies at Princeton University and pursue a career in teaching. Those serving as scholarship board members are Jackie Sellers, Bill and Marsha Christy, Donna Crowell, Sandy Mazza, Floyd Phillips and Teresa McClure.

First place gross: Benny Parten, Woody Chastain, Jerry Brinke and Jimmy O’Brien.
Second place gross: Eddie Coffey, Mike Erwin, Robbie Williams and Wayne Sutton.
First place net: Devin Whittaker, Tim Daniel, John Mott and Dalton Whittaker.
Second place net: Bobby Palmer, Diane Palmer, Levi White and Brett Palmer.
Closest to pin: Brett Palmer, hole 3; Levi White, hole 16.
Longest drive: Gene Farley, hole 17.
50/50 drawing: Jim Duncan.
Auxiliary Unit 532 would like to thank the Davis Family, the community, business owners and friends of the American Legion for their overwhelming support as well as Bill Thurman, Bob Rogers, Bill Christy, Carl Maxwell, Mark Runge, Dwight McClure, Donna Crowell, Marsha Christy, Marilyn Bailey and Teresa McClure, who volunteered their time, participated as players or gave supply donations which made this event a great success for benefiting the memorial scholarship fund.
