Young Harris College goalkeeper Eduardo D'Avino and defender Federico Gutierrez have been named Peach Belt Conference Men's Soccer Players of the Week ending Oct. 17.

D'Avino was named the league's Goalkeeper of the Week, while Gutierrez was selected the Defender of the Week.

D'Avino allowed one goal in 110 minutes of action this week. The juinor from Rome, Italy, preserved the 2-2 double-overtime draw against the University of North Georgia with no goals allowed in 20 minutes of overtime and allowed just one goal as No. 5-ranked YHC downed Lander University 4-1, making three saves. D'Avino leads the PBC with a 0.77 goals-against average and in save percentage (.682) and is tied for second in shutouts (2).

Gutierrez was all over the field as the Mountain Lions went 1-0-1 last week. The senior defender from Montevideo, Uruguay, led the YHC defense to hold North Georgia to eight shots- six on goal - in a 2-2 tie. He also scored the first goal of that game on his lone shot. YHC then held Lander to 10 shots, only four on goal, in a 4-1 win on the road. Gutierrez again was effective at both ends, assisting on the second and game-winning goal and then scoring the fourth himself. Young Harris continues to lead the PBC with a 0.676 goals-against average, which is eighth in NCAA Division II.

Young Harris (12-0-1 overall, 8-0-1 PBC) returns to action Wednesday (Oct. 20) at 7:30 p.m. when they host Georgia Southwestern State University in a PBC match. A win against the Hurricanes will lock up the Mountain Lions' sixth PBC title in program history.
