Carl Cleveland led the Mountain Lions with 32 points as the Young Harris College men's basketball team fell to Clayton State University Wednesday, Jan. 5, in a Peach Belt Conference contest at the YHC Recreation and Fitness Center.
The Mountain Lions fell to 3-9 overall and 0-3 in the Peach Belt, while the Lakers improved to 6-4 and 1-0. Young Harris returns to action Saturday, Jan. 8, as they travel to Augusta, Georgia to face No. 12 ranked Augusta University at 3:30 p.m.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- Cleveland set a career-high record of 32 points with 11 rebounds. Cleveland went 11-of-19 from the floor and was 9-of-10 at the free throw line.
- The Lakers scored the first 12 points of the game - just 2:10 into the game. Ricardo Lynch led Clayton State with 21 points.
- Christian Schach scored 12 points off four three-pointers, while Carter Berish dished out a career-high nine assists for the Mountain Lions.
- Karl Chavis added 11 points and grabbed seven rebounds for YHC.
- The Lakers outrebounded the Mountain Lions 38-33.
- As a team, Young Harris was 15-of-20 at the free throw line.
- Clayton State led by as many as 19 points (82-63) after a Lynch free throw with 2:14 remaining in the game.
