Hayesville cross country athletes hit the trail for the final time of the season Saturday, Nov. 9. Seven runners from the men’s team and seven from the women’s team competed in the state championship meet held in Kernersville, N.C.
Fans of the black and Vegas gold were able to hold their heads high as the Yellow Jackets ended the day fourth place and the Lady Jackets finished the event in sixth. As they have all season, Jackson Burch and Kaysen Krieger led their teams with Burch finishing in 12th and Krieger crossig the strip in 16th in the women’s meet.

With the majority of its top runners returning next season, a state championship could very well be in Hayesville’s near future.
