The Hayesville Middle School Jackets knew they had a tough game when they traveled to Murphy on Tuesday April, 25 facing the Bulldogs in a showdown for the books. Unfortunately the Jackets were unable to stop them from walking it off in the seventh inning.
Brady Reynolds started the game by hitting a single to right field and joining Rhett Sellers on base. Landon Cheeks came up to bat, hit a single also to right field where it scored the first run of the game.
In the bottom of the first, Reynolds started on the mound but was unable to keep them off the bases as the Bulldogs scored three runs in the first. The next few innings were a close match-up. In the seventh inning the Jackets rallied to score three runs thanks to Cheeks who racked in two RBI’s from his single to left field.
The Jackets fought hard in the seventh but let the Bulldogs walk it off to win the game. Reynolds, four IP, five strikes, five hits and two walks. Cheeks three IP, one strike, three hits and one walk.
On Monday, May 8, the Jackets will match up against Murphy at 4 p.m. If possible come out and support the Yellow Jackets.
