On Thursday, March 13 the Hayesville High School women's soccer team had their first win against Tri-County Early College.
In the first half of the game, the Hayesville girls had eight steals, with Emily Lyvers taking the lead by making three of those steals in her new position in middle field defense: three shots, seven shots on goal and Emily Dowling had one save on goal.
In the first half, Summer Borchardt scored a goal with the assist of Reese Seagers who then went on to score a goal. Going into half-time the score was 2-0 with Hayesville taking the lead.
During the second half, Hayesville's Lyvers had one steal, two shot and five shots on goal and Dowling had two saves. Both Segars and Borchardt scored another goal each.
After Hayesville scored within two minutes, which follows Head Coach Mike White’s five-minute rule where after you score the other team is most likely to score in that five minutes. If they don't the odds are reset. One thing the Hayesville girls need to work on is not giving the opponents so many corner kicks.
In the second half, they gave Tri-County four corner kicks. Overall the girls played well achieving their first win of the season.
The final score of the game was 4-1.
