Hayesville Yellow Jackets' effort to come back from down eight runs in the seventh inning came up just short, as they fell 12-10 to Murphy Middle School Bulldogs on Tuesday April 18 at Hayesville. Despite the loss, the Jackets did collect seven hits in the high-scoring affair. The Jackets scored six runs on three hits in the bottom of the seventh inning. Caden McClure singled, scoring one run, Camden Taylor doubled, scoring two runs, Tucker Moore singled, scoring two runs and an error scored one run. McClure stepped on the mound first for the Jackets. They gave up five hits and five runs over three innings, striking out three and walking three. Taylor went 2-for-4 at the plate as the left-handed hitter led the team with two runs batted in. McClure and Taylor each collected two hits.
On Friday April 19 the Jackets traveled into Bulldog country looking for a win. Unfortunately, the Jackets came up short with a loss of 4-3. Even though the Jackets lost, they still put up a good fight. The starting pitcher for the Jackets was Micah Moss who pitched three innings, was relieved by McClure who pitched three innings and Jack Bethel closed out on the mound. Tucker Moore came in clutch at the plate hitting two singles earning one RBI, Taylor, McClure and Rhett Sellers all contributed at the plate as well. The Jackets host the black Knights at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 25 at home.
