The Hayesville Middle School Yellow Jackets have had a very successful year on the baseball field and as the season is coming to close these next couple of weeks it was nice to be able to dominate over the Robbinsville Black Knights in both games.
The Jackets started off strong by Rhett Sellers getting on base with a hard hit single to left field. Brady Reynolds got on base with a walk for Robbie Barter to come up with a hard hit to left, gaining the first run of the game. Landon Cheeks and Jacob Cody both racked in RBI’s making the lead on Robbinsville 6-0 in the first inning.
Brady Reynolds started the game off on the mound, shutting down the side one, two then three. The Jackets kept those bats hot with Silas Lovingood getting a double and Porter Hood getting on base with a single and an RBI increasing the score to 9-0 going into the third inning.
In the third inning every player reached homebase and scored for the Jackets. Micah Moss came to the mound to close out the game in the top of the 4th inning.
The final game results were 20-0. Reynolds: 4IP, 7K, 1H, 2BB. Moss 1IP, 2K, 0H, 1BB.
The Jackets traveled to Robbinsville on Wednesday, May 3 where Jacob Cody took command of the mound to begin the game. The Jackets took an early lead in the second inning with Micah Moss hitting a bomb to left field earning a triple, with Rhett Sellers, Robbie Barter and Jacob Cody both getting hot doubles. The Jackets scored eight runs with the Black Knights answered by scoring four runs.
The Jackets pulled away securing the win 20-8. Cody: 3IP, 3K, 6H, 4BB. Landon Cheeks 4IP, 3K, 5H, 3BB. Robbie Barter: 1IP, 2K, 0H, 2BB.
