A nail biter full of seven innings took place in Cherokee Friday when the Jackets went head to head with the Braves. The game was to close for comfort considering the Jackets did not score another run past the first inning of the game.
Rhett Sellers got the game started for us by getting on base so that Robbie Barter and Landon Cheeks could both hit singles to get us on the board. Micah Moss had two stolen bases for the Jackets, making the lead 4-0. However, we just couldn't keep the Braves off the board. The Braves scored two runs in the first on three hits. From that point on it was a hard battle for the Jackets to keep the lead. Every time the Jackets hit the ball, a Braves player was there to catch it.
The Jackets pulled off the win 4-3 but it did not come easy. Lots of lessons were learned and they plan to come back strong. Brady Reynolds 5K, 6H, 4BB. Cheeks 3K, 0H, 1BB.
The Jackets take on the Murphy Bulldogs at 2 p.m. Tuesday April 25 at home and Thursday April 27 in Murphy. Come out and support our Jackets.
