HMS Ladies split games of the week

A walk-off left Hayesville Middle School Ladies on the wrong end of a 2-1 defeat to Hiwassee Dam Ranger Middle School on Tuesday, April 4. The game was tied at one with HDR Middle School batting in the bottom of the seventh inning when Josey Ware singled on a 2-1 count by scoring one run.

The pitching was strong on both sides. HDR Middle School pitchers struck out 13, while HMS girls sat down 11.

In the top of the sixth inning, the Lady Jackets tied things up 1-1. Danielle Anderson drew a walk, scoring one run.

Abby Harris got the start for HDR. The pitcher surrendered 1-run on zero hits over six innings, striking out 12. Jasmine Brooks led things off in the circle for the Lady Jackets. The pitcher lasted six and two-thirds innings, allowing 5-hits and 2-runs while striking out 11 and walking one.

Joey Ware led HDR with 2-hits in four at bat. They tore up the base paths as three players stole at least two bases. Leah Taylor led the way with three. HDR didn’t commit a single error in the field. Ware had the most chances in the field with 13.

Hayesville Middle School Ladies had all cylinders firing on offense Thursday, April 6, winning big over HDR Middle School 10-2.

The Lady Jackets fired up the offense in the first inning. They scored on a stolen base during Brooks’s at bat, Brooks then went on to single.

The Lady Jackets scored 3-runs in the fifth inning. Hayesville’s big bats were led by Anderson, Brooks and Lillie McClure, all driving in runs during the inning.

Brooks led things off in the pitcher’s circle for the Lady Jackets, going seven innings and allowing 2-runs on 4-hits. The hurler struck out five.

Harris was in the pitcher’s circle for HDR Middle School. Harris lasted three innings allowing six Lady Jacket hits and 6-runs while striking out five. Sophie Gibson threw three innings out of the bullpen.

HMS Lady Jackets totaled 13 hits. Anderson, Brooks and Micalynn McClure all managed 3-hits to lead the Lady Jackets. The Lady Jackets had 12 stolen bases as three players stole more than one. Brooks led the way with four.

Leah Taylor led HDR Middle School with two hits in four at bats. Avery McNabb led HDR with four stolen bases and the team stealing 16 all together.

The HMS Lady Jackets will be back in action after Spring break at home at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 18 against the Cherokee Lady Braves
