It seems impossible but the 2019-2020 middle school basketball season has drawn to a close. Hayesville Middle School’s Lady Yellow Jacket team ended their season in the Smoky Mountain Conference championship game against Cherokee. The Lady Braves grabbed a strangle-hold on the lead early and never looked back, winning 61-21.
The Lady Jackets struggled from the opening tip. Whether it was turnovers caused by Cherokee’s defense or shots simply not falling, Hayesville could not find their rhythm.
On the other hand, it was as if the Lady Braves could do no wrong. Shots from anywhere on the floor found their way through the net en route to the win.
“We had an overall good year and finished 13-4 overall,” said coach Tammy Dills. “I feel since our summer workouts, these young ladies grew not only on the court with their skills but also they became better role models for not only themselves but for others around them.”
