The Hayesville Middle School Lady Jackets are off to a 1-1 start with a hard loss to Andrews but a big win against Swain.
On Monday, Nov. 6 the Lady Jackets traveled to Andrews for the first game of the season. The Lady Jackets started off with a quick jump on Andrews but the Wildcats adjusted half way through the first quarter and came up with a 13-7 lead.
Unfortunately, the Lady Jackets could not hold the Wildcats off going into halftime with a 24-13 lead. The battle continued but the Lady Jackets came up short in the end losing the game 26-35.
Micalynn McClure led the Lady Jackets with 14 points. Caroline Wade came in behind, scoring 8. Taylyn Young and Candance King both chipped in buckets for 2 points.
On Thursday Nov. 9 the Lady Jackets were out for redemption as they traveled to Swain and took on the Lady Devils. The Lady Jackets got an early jump on the Devils with an early lead 9-4 ending the first quarter. The Lady Jackets hung on to their lead by pressing the Lady Devils and continued to add to their lead going into the half 18-9. The Lady Jackets continued to add to their lead in the second half which allowed all players ample time on the floor.
The Lady Jackets finished with a strong 32-21 win. Micalynn McClure led the Lady Jackets with 10 points, Caroline Wade with 8 points, Lucy Trout with 6 points and McKenna Moss, Candance King, Breann Wade, Kara Bauer all had 2 points each.
