HMS Softball wraps up a tough season

Hayesville Middle School Softball lost to the Andrews Wildcats 6-1 on Monday, May 6. A walk by Caroline Wade put Hayesville Middle School Softball on the board in the top of the first.

In the bottom of the first inning. Micalynn McClure pitched five and two-thirds innings in relief for Hayesville. The lefty allowed four hits and two runs while, striking out six and walking four. Wade started in the circle for the Lady Jackets. Wade gave up two hits and four runs over one-third of an inning, striking out one and walking three. Wade, Richyah Jackson, Brooklynn Smith and Bree Wade each collected one hit for Hayesville. McClure stole five bases. Hayesville ran wild on the base paths, collecting nine stolen bases for the game.

Hayesville couldn't keep up with Hiwassee Dam/Ranger on Wednesday, May 8 with the final being 13-2. The Lady Jackets captured the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the first after Caroline Wade doubled and Makenna Moss walked, each scoring one run. McClure stepped in the circle first for Hayesville. The starting pitcher allowed eight hits and 13 runs, eight earned, over six innings, striking out seven and walking six. Wade led Hayesville with one run batted in. The nNo. 3 hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. McClure and Wade each stole multiple bases for Hayesville. We are proud of the effort the Lady Jackets showed this season and we can’t wait to see them improve more in the years to come.
