    Hayesville Middle School cross country runners had the opportunity to run on familiar ground Thursday, Sept. 26.  The annual Carney Classic brought in hundreds of runners

    from western North Carolina and north Georgia. A total of 70 girls and 100 boys lined up for the race. When the middle school portion of the event ended, Hayesville celebrated strong finishes with the girls’ team finishing third and the boys taking fifth.

    GIRLS’ TOP 10 FINISHERS:

    Emma Ashe: fourth place.

    Macy Dupriest: seventh place.

    BOYS’ TOP 10 FINISHERS:

    Landon Hughes: second place.
