The Hayesville High School Men's Wrestling Team traveled to Towns County, Ga. for the Annual King of the Mountain Tournament on Saturday, Dec. 2. As a team all of the wrestlers scored wins. Rayland Martinez, a sophmore and in the heavyweight division, defeated every opponent he came across to land him the gold medal and the title of King of the Mountain.
Andrew Reynolds, a junior in the 157 weight class also annihilated every opposing school to win the gold medal and become King of the Mountain.
Caden Gordon, a senior in the 165 pound weight class fought hard to battle for second place. During the match for second Gordon and his opponent clash heads trying to lock up resulting in Gordon knocking out his opponent and winning the match bringing home silver.
Robert Manning and Raul Rivera-Prieto won a few of their duels in their respective weight classes to bring home third place finishes and to receive bronze medals.
On Tuesday, Dec. 5 Hthe teamg traveled to Andrews High School to have a Tri Duel against Towns County Indians and Andrews Wildcats. As a team the Hayesville Yellow Jackets came back undefeated becoming 2-0 for the season and 1-0 in the conference.
