Hayesville’s JV Yellow Jackets don’t play baseball often, but watch out when they do.

That was the case last Tuesday at Swain when the Yellow Jackets cracked 13 hits and took advantage of 10 walks and three hit batters to roar past the Maroon Devils, 21-0.

Hayesville’s JV’s improved to 3-1-1 with the whooping.

“We played well in all facets of the game,” Hayesville Coach Joe Jack Seller said.

The game was only competitive for one scoreless inning. Hayesville pulled away with 4 runs in the second frame, went up 8-0 in the third and battered Swain with 13 runs in the fourth.

Jackson Sellers and Peyton McGaha were the principal punishers. Both cracked four hits in five at bats. Jackson had a team-high five RBI and two steals, while McGaha drove in three and swiped three bases. Jackson also pitched a shutout inning.

Hayesville’s attack was more than a two-man assault. Every Yellow Jacket scored at least once. Cooper Matheson touched the plate 3 times, while Cade Caruso, Chance Hughes, Kendall Boyer and Wayne Barter each scored twice. Hughes also hurled three scoreless innings.

Ben Bethel turned three walks into three steals, a run and two RBI’s. He also made three assists on defense.

Kyle Shaheen contributed two RBI’s.

The JV’s continued their hot hitting in a scrimmage against Swain on the Yellow Jackets diamond, however, umpires were not present and no score was kept.
