Hayesville’s JV girls appear ready for next week’s postseason Smoky Mountain Conference Tournament.

“We’ve made great progress. It’s like every week has gone a little bit better. We’re excited for next week, we need to finish strong,” Coach Meghan McQuade said.

Here’s a recap of last week’s JV action:

Hayesville 32,

 Robbinsville 31

Aaliyah Jackson’s 11 points led a strong team effort that surprised Robbinsville.

“We battled back. It was a good game,” McQuade said. “I liked that we didn’t give up, we kept pushing.”

Hayesville led 22-14 at the half, but was outscored 11-2 in the third quarter. Jackson, Bauer and Moore did the scoring in the crucial fourth period when the Lady Jackets overtook the hosts.

Kara Bauer kicked in five points. Micalynn McClure and Ava Moore added four apiece. Jasmine Brooks and Olivia Free each added three points. Breanna Patterson had two.

Andrews 26,

Hayesville 24

This is the one that got away.

“We were ahead most of the game and then they hit a couple of shots and it slipped away. We didn’t have enough time to come back, time ran out,” McQuade remarked.

Andrews secured the win despite committing 20 turnovers to Hayesville’s 10.

Aaliyah Jackson led Hayesville with eight points. Micalynn McClure added six. Ava Moore and Olivia Free had four apiece. Kara Bauer added a deuce.
