Hayesville High School opened the junior varsity portion of the volleyball schedule with away matches against Nantahala on Tuesday, Nov. 17 and Robbinsville Thursday, Nov. 19. The Lady Jackets took the win in Nantahala and followed that up with a victory in Robbinsville.

Hayesville started off the season on the right foot, besting Nantahala by sweeping the Lady Hawks two sets to none. Looking to keep the momentum heading in the right direction, the Lady Jackets squared off with Robbinsville, one of the top programs in the Smoky Mountain Conference.

The visiting team got off to a strong start as Hayesville seemed too much for Robbinsville in the opening set. The Lady Jackets won the opener 25-14 which put them halfway to a  match win. In set two, the Lady Knights were able to hang closer but ultimately, Hayesville was victorious with a 25-19 set score which gave them the 2-0 match win.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a limited number of people will be allowed into The Hive when Hayesville faces Cherokee at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 1. Fans can see the contest on the new “Clay County Schools” YouTube channel.
