Hayesville’s JV boys knew they were in for a rough time at Franklin, but the Yellow Jackets played respectably Friday against an undefeated team that waxed them in a preseason scrimmage.
“Franklin has a very good JV team,” Coach Zach Cottrell said after Hayesville fell 70-38. “I was pleased with the progress we made since the scrimmage.”
E.J. Abrams led Hayesville’s balanced attack with 8 points. Landon Trout contributed 7. Peyton Mcgaha added 5, while Brady Reynolds and Daemien DeSoto scored 4 apiece. Brady Jones and Carter Whitfield tallied 3 apiece. Brendan Lynch and Johan Webb rounded out the scoring with 2 apiece.
“We are getting better, but we have a lot to work on,” Cottrell stated. “This is a fun team. They try hard and do what I ask them to do.”
