One game is in the books for Lady Jacket basketball team from Hayesville Middle School. The Lady Jackets started the season by hosting Andrews Monday, Nov. 4. It was apparent early that Hayesville was the dominant team and the Lady Jackets got in the win column wth a 44-11 victory.
The first points of the season for Hayesville came from Keena Leatherwood who put the home team up 2-0 with a shot under the basket. Andrews answered to tie the score but Hayesville then went on a 15-0 run to end the first quarter with a 17-2 lead.
Quarter number two was more of the same with the Lady Jackets swarming on defense and turning steals into points. When the horn sounded signaling halftime, Hayesville was up 28-8.
There were no surprise comebacks in the second half as Hayesville continued to take care of business. Solid ball movement gave several Lady Jackets scoring opportunities. A final of 44-11 was a statement win for the team.
Hayesvile will be on the road Thursday, Nov. 7 to face Hiwassee Dam/Ranger at 4 p.m.
