Seven Lady Jackets scored 7 or more points as the Hayesville Lady Yellow Jackets knocked out Nantahala, 73-25, on Friday.

Ava Shook led the scoring brigade with 16. Ava Moore added 12, Micalynn McClure ,11; Lucy Trout, 9; Danielle Anderson, 8; Olivia Free, 8; Aaliyah Jackson, 7 and Kayla Brown, 2.

“All players saw valuable playing time. This allowed us as a team to work on polishing the little things,” Hayesville Coach Tammy Dills said.

Hayesville opened the game with 6 unanswered points, then went on a 15-0 run in less than 4 minutes to go up 21-3 after Nantahala broke into the scoring column with a 3-pointer. 

The Lady Jackets led 28-11 after one quarter and expanded their hold by outscoring the hosts 26-10 in the second and 16-4 in the third act. 

Hayesville, which fell to Summit Charter, 46-37, two days earlier took a 2-2 record into this week.

The Lady Jackets hosted Hiwassee Dam on Tuesday. Next up: a trip to Bryson City to meet Swain County on Monday.
