Struggles continue for Hayesville’s varsity softball team. On Tuesday, April 20, the Lady Jackets lost a home game to Swain County by the final of 7-0. The scoreless streak continued for Hayesville in Hiwassee Dam Friday, April 23 with a 22-0 loss.

Against Swain, the Lady Jackets did a fairly good job of maintaining the Lady Devils’ high-powered offense. The visitors failed to manufacture a big inning at the plate, but were consistent over seven innings. Hayesville could never string together the offensive production needed to put runs on the board which led to the 7-0 loss.

The lack of success from the batter’s box continued against Hiwassee Dam and the Lady Eagles managed to pounce on Hayesville’s pitching. The 22-0 loss was certainly a tough one, but the young Lady Jacket team has a chance to end the season on a high note.

On Friday, April 30, Hayesville will head to Robbinsville to close out the season against the Lady Knights. The first game against the two teams saw Robbinsville come away with the 13-2 win. First pitch is set for 4:30 p.m.
