The annual Carney Classic cross country meet was held Thursday, Sept. 26 and the atmosphere felt like a festival. Teams had tents set up, music was playing, deputies were directing traffic and runners were using every bit of spare room to warm up. For the Hayesville Yellow Jackets, the meet is the only one in which they are the home team. A total of 11 teams lined up for the women’s event and 13 schools were represented for the men’s race. Kaysen Krieger’s third place finish led the Lady Jackets to the top of the podium with a team win. For the men, Jackson Burch continued to be the leader and his third place finish helped the Jackets secure a podium finish of third.
