John Riley takes bronze medal at Special Olympics golf championships.

Three Special Olympics North Carolina golf athletes competed in the 2025 Special Olympics North America Golf Championship at Penn National Golf Club and Inn in Fayetteville, Penn. including an athlete from Clay County.
The event was held Aug. 25-28. Over 300 athletes and Unified partners representing 22 Special Olympics Programs from across the US and Canada competed in the 2025 SONA Golf Championship. Clay County’s John Riley took the bronze medal. Delaney Hansen of Iredell County took gold and Cheryl Weiss, Iredell County took a fourth place ribbon.
