Hayesville Middle School Softball had trouble keeping up with Robbinsville Middle School in a 17-2 loss on Tuesday April 23. The Lady Jackets opened the scoring in the first after Caroline Wade laid down a sacrifice bunt, scoring one run. Robbinsville middle school flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the first, scoring five runs on seven hits to take a 5-1 lead.
Micalynn McClure started in the circle. The lefty gave up 11 hits and 17 runs, eight earned, over two and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking five. McClure set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading the Lady Jackets with two hits in two at bats. Caroline and Bree Wade each drove in one run.
The Lady Jackets hosted Robbinsville at home on Thursday April 25 but couldn't keep up with the Black Knights and fell 18-2. Robbinsville jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning and the lead was extended to 10-0 in the top of the second inning. Caroline began the game for the Lady Jackets, surrendering six hits and nine runs over one inning, striking out none and walking four. McClure pitched four innings in relief allowing 14 hits and nine runs while striking out two and walking two. The Lady Jackets accumulated eight hits in the game with McClure leading with three hits in three at bats. Caroline collected two hits in three at bats. Richyah Jackson and Makenna Moss each stole multiple bases. Hayesville Middle School Softball were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error fielding and Lucy Trout made the most plays with six.
