On Monday, April 28 the Hayesville Middle School Girls' Track team competed at the Smoky Mountain Middle School Conference at Swain County High School. They won with a score of 121.
High jump: Leah Black, first place, 4 feet 6 inches and Ellie Black, third place, 4 feet 2 inches.
Long jump: Lucy Trout, second place, 14 feet 4.50 inches.
Triple jump: Lucy Trout, first place, 30 feet 8 inches.
Discus throw: Harper Ledford, second place, 66 feet 6 inches and Alaina Crawford, seventh place, 59 feet.
Shot put: Bree Wade, seventh place, 23 feet 7 inches and Candance King, eighth place, 23 feet 6 inches.
4x800 meter relay: Kennady Trapp, Lily Gordon, Ayden Margo and Makenna Moss, third place, 11:50.64.
100 meter hurdles: Eva Jones, third place, 19.2 and Callie Graves, seventh place, 20.08.
100 meter dash: Lucy Trout, third place, 14.26.
4x200 meter relay: Mati Canup, Annie Godfrey, Eva Jones and Taylyn Young, second place, 2:01.14.
1600 meter run: Makenna Moss, second place, 5:58.66; Alaina Greenstone, fourth place, 6:30.81 and Kennedy Trapp, sixth place, 6:42.38.
4x100 meter relay: Anna Cate Evans, Annie Godfrey, Eva Jones and Taylyn Young, second place, 58.21.
400 meter dash: Mati Canup, sixth place, 1:10.61.
800 meter run: Makenna Moss, second place, 2:46.10.
200 meter dash: Eva Jones, fourth place, 29.56.
4x400 meter relay: Ayden Margo, Mati Canup, Taylyn Young and Makenna Moss, third place, 4:56.88.
The Hayesville Middle School Boys’ Track team also competed at the Smoky Mountain Middle School Conference at Swain County High School. They came in second, losing only by one point at 157.
High jump: Eli Cheeks, first place, 5 feet 2 inches; Henry Wadsworth, fifth place, 5 feet 2 inches and Caleb Gibbons, seventh place, 5 feet.
Long jump: Henry Wadsworth, second place, 16 feet 9.50 inches.
Triple jump: Eli Cheeks, first place, 34 feet 9.50 inches and Camden Taylor, fifth place, 33 feet 11.50 inches.
Discus throw: Caden McClure, fifth place, 105 feet 2 inches; Brayden Aman, seventh place, 91 feet 4 inches and Tucker Moore, eighth place, 91 feet 4 inches.
Shot put: Caden McClure, fourth place, 38 feet 6 inches; Luke Buckner, fifth place, 38 feet 1 inch and Jamie Cowan, sixth place, 37 feet 1 inch.
4x800 meter relay: Evan Burks, Colton Crawford, Caiden Curtis and Porter Hood, third place, 10:43.73.
110 meter hurdles: Dustin Lockaby,seventh place, 21.32 and Stephen Sommer, eighth place, 21.36.
100 meter dash: Brett Hanna, first place, 11.87; Caleb Gibbons, third place, 12.45 and Caden McClure, fifth place, 12.84.
1600 meter run: Porter Hood, fourth place, 5:21.81.
4x100 meter relay: Carson Finn, Luke Dockery, Ethan Beechum and Caden McClure, second place, 51.61.
400 meter dash: Brett Hanna, first place, 53.69; Caleb Gibbons, fourth place, 57.17 and Stephen Sommer, seventh place, 1:02.14.
800 meter run: Eli Cheeks, first place, 2:12.82; Evan Burks, fifth place, 2:29.24 and Caiden Curtis, sixth place, 2:32.29.
