Hayesville Middle School Yellow Jackets commenced the track season on Monday, March 4 by having the first meet of the year in Murphy against Andrews, Hiwassee Dam/Ranger and Murphy schools. While starting a new season can be nerve-racking for most, it was especially nerve-racking to this year’s track teams.

The HMS track teams are composed of around 50 percent new participants, athletes who have never ran in a track meet before. As you can imagine the excitement and nerves were there. Not only did the athletes handle this meet with amazing sportsmanship and class but they dominated in the events. The girls’ team finished first at the meet with a score of 100 and the boys’ team also finished first with a score of 76.
