Volleyball season is in full swing for Hayesville Middle School. The Lady Yellow Jackets traveled to Murphy Monday, Nov. 23 and came away with a 2-0 win over the rival Bulldogs. Hayesville followed that up with a 2-0 win on their home court over Andrews on Wednesday, Nov. 25.

Against Murphy, the Lady Jackets had their hands full. The opening set was a hotly contested one, needing overtime to determine the winner. Hayesville was able to string together a pair of scores to take the set 27-25. Set two wasn't as competitive, but was by no means a cake walk for the Lady Jackets. Murphy managed to stay within striking distance, forcing Hayesville to keep up the intensity. The Lady Jackets won the set 25-20 to take the 2-0 match victory.

For the first time this season, Hayesville competed on it's own floor when they hosted Andrews. An opening set win of 25-7 made it look like the Lady Jackets would cruise to another match win. However, the Lady Wildcats came clawing back in the second set. Andrews made a legitimate run at a win before Hayesville eventually ended the threat with a 25- 21 victory. The match win improved the Lady Jackets' record to 5-0 on the season.

Hayesville was scheduled to make the long trip to Rosman Friday, Dec. 4, but that match has been moved to Friday, Dec. 18. The Lady Jackets will defend The Hive against Swain County Tuesday, Dec. 8. Both matches have a scheduled 4 p.m. start.
