 Alexis Scarpinato scored two goals to lead the Young Harris College Women's Soccer team to a 3-2 victory over Tusculum University Thursday evening (Sept. 2) at Pioneer Field.

The Mountain Lions improved to 1-0 overall while the Pioneers fell to 0-1. The Mountain Lions will open their home schedule at 5 p.m. Sunday (Sept. 5) against Carson-Neman University at the Young Harris Soccer and Lacrosse Field.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:

  • Scarpinato's goal - her first of the season - was scored off a rebound assisted by Aimee Durn giving YHC a 1-0 lead with just over 20 minutes in the first half
  • Jhena Ellerbe's goal - her first of the season - was a header off the corner assisted by Hannah Behner giving the Mountain Lions a 2-0 lead with just over eight minutes before half time
  • Scarpinato's game-winning goal was dribbled through defense and shot on the far side and assisted by Durn to give Young Harris a 3-2 lead with just over 18 minutes remaining in the match
  • Young Harris outshot Tusculum 17-6 and had an 8-2 margin in corner kicks
  • Mckenna Peaster recorded two saves in goal for YHC
  • Scarpinato led YHC with 5 shots, Jasmin Keller recorded four, while Durn had three, and Thea Juul had two
