The Cherokee Clay Senior Games are continuing pickleball competition played in both Hayesville and Murphy. Area players are competing in men’s and women’s singles and doubles events as well as mixed doubles.
Gold, silver and bronze medals are awarded to players in each age division. All winners are eligible to compete in the N.C. Senior Games to be held later in the year. Simon Childs of Hayesville took Gold in the men’s singles on Thursday morning at the Clay County Sports Complex.
The women’s doubles and men’s singles were played last Thursday in Hayesville. The mixed doubles were played in Murphy. The men’s doubles and women’s singles were rained out last week and will be played next Wednesday in Hayesville. That will complete all of the pickleball events. All winners in each of the events will be posted on the Cherokee/Clay Senior Games website.
