The Blairsville Historic Courthouse Square was alive with classics, hot rods, trucks and custom cars with a record 86 registered vehicles at the Saturday night cruise-in sponsored by the Blairsville Cruisers. Many entries from Cleveland and Dahlonega, Ga. and one from Duluth, Ga. attended.

Club Choice trophies were presented to Greg Grimes, of Duluth, Ga., for “Best Paint” on his Cobra. Casey Conley, of Blairsville, won the “Best Interior” for his Bronco and “Best Engine” went to Travis Lunsford of Blairsville, for his Camaro.

Ricky Tanner, of Blairsville, won the 50/50 pot and made a healthy donation back to the club from his winnings.

The Blairsville Cruisers Car Club is a 501-c-3 non profit. The cruisers, their sponsors and supporters has contributed to the community since 2007 with scholarships and donations to various local organizations. Most visible cruisers efforts are the “Shop with a Cop” in Murphy and Blairsville, “Shop with a Hero” in Hayesville and Hiawassee, the “Sheriff’s Give a Gift” and the “Shop with a Cruiser” programs for needy children and their families at Christmas.

The Cruisers Annual Salute to Veterans Car Show each November helps local needy veterans, the Vietnam Veterans of America local chapter, Local VFW in Hiawassee, local American Legions, the Chaplain’s Mission Council in Hayesville and the Warriors Veteran Outreach in Murphy. Many cruiser members are veterans and are proud of the car club participation in honoring all veterans.
