Young Harris College Director of Athletics Jennifer Rushton has announced that Rob King has stepped down as head coach of the women's soccer program, effective Jan. 31.

King, who has served as the head coach for the Mountain Lions for the past four years, will become the head coach for the women's soccer program at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, Georgia.

"Rob took over our soccer program at a critical time and did a tremendous job building a solid foundation," said Rushton. "His team saw growth in all areas under his leadership. I wish Rob and his family all the best in the future."

King established the Mountain Lions as a conference and national contender within the Peach Belt Conference during his time in the Enchanted Valley.  Under his tenure, King led the team to its first ever Peach Belt Tournament semifinal appearance (2018), King has had 28 student-athletes named to the conference's Team of Academic Distinction and the team earned the United Soccer Team Academic Award twice. King had seven players earned PBC Players of the Week accolades along with two being named all-conference and one earning all-region laurels.

"I'd like to thank President Van Horn and Directors of Athletics Randy Dunn and Jennifer Rushton for the opportunity to coach at Young Harris College," said King. "While my new role will allow me to be closer to our growing family, Young Harris College and its family of students, staff and friends will always hold very special memories for me."
