On Friday, Dec. 22 the Hayesville Lady Wrestlers traveled to Swain County High school for the Annual Devil Girls Wrestling Tournament.

Amyna Denton at 120 pounds had some serious opponents to go against. She made improvements on becoming more offensive in wrestling as she is a pretty dominate defensive wrestler. She landed third place. Amyna has earned 11 wins and three losses this year.

Katie Miller at 165 pounds is a new wrestler this year. She has put in tremendous effort and has shown great improvement over the last 2 months. Miller’s record is now three wins and three losses.

Lilli Denton at 132 pounds went into the tournament determined to claim victory and bring home the gold. Lilli defeated every opponent at this tournament she faced by pinning them.

Lakota Shelton at 138 pounds was ready and determined to have victory. When Shelton stepped onto the mat she only had one mission and that was to dominate. She wrestled three times this tournament and defeated every challenger by pins. The first opponent she pinned in 47 seconds. The second opponent she took a deep shot and did a fireman's roll and pinned her opponent in :33. The last opponent was from Georgia and took slightly longer but still fell by pin in 1:11. Shelton has back to back first place finishes in the last two tournaments.

The next Duel for these Lady's will be at 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5 at Hayesville against Murphy. This will be a home match along with the men's wrestling.
