The 2020-21 high school track season came to a close Friday, June 25 with the state championship event held at North Carolina A&T in Greensboro. Hayesville’s athletes went out on a high note with junior Jake McTaggart claiming the gold in the discus and silver in shot put. Ryelan Snowden had a runner-up finish in the high jump and Paul White stood on the podium with a fourth place finish in 400 meter dash. The Yellow Jacket men’s team finished the event in fourth overall. Other Hayesville representatives had solid finishes in the even.

Shot put: Jake McTaggart, second place. 46-10.
High jump: Ryelan Snowden, second place, 6-2; Brady Shook, fifth place, 5-10.
Long jump: Brady Shook, 13th place, 18-3.
